Once the room was rearranged, Polk added inexpensive accessories: curtains for the windows (“I didn’t want them to make the room feel heavy, so they’re the same light color as the walls, and they’re short”), a small bookshelf, and a cheerfully mod... But the layout wasn’t working – a sectional couch blocked most of the archway between the rooms, Kim felt the TV was “too front and center,” and a pretty window was hidden behind toys and furniture. “You know you’re in trouble when your 1-year-old screams every time you leave her alone in a room surrounded by toys,” says Lorin Seidman, a publicist who lives in Wellesley with her husband and two children. Interior designer Paige Polk’s first move was to divide it into two zones for the kids, moving the play table and chairs away from the wall and centering the set on a colorful new rug. On the opposite side of the room, Polk created a “cooking nook” for 1-year-old daughter Romy. Freeing up wall space allowed Polk to include an easel for Seidman’s 3-year-old son, Asher, which has been a huge hit. In the Victorian, however, she wanted to be true to the old house and have rooms that looked like “they could be original from 1909, only better. A double parlor in a 102-year-old Victorian certainly sounds elegant – but in reality its awkward floor plan can make family-friendly decorating difficult. “That created a perfect room divider,” explains Polk.

The tiniest sectional sofa made is pretty much a boxy sofa structure with a large ottoman which can change one side of the sofa to a chaise lounge. In case you are purchasing sectional sofas for less-than-spacious rooms, you may want to shop at a furniture showroom or website which allows you to get lone sections of furniture rather than insisting that you purchase packaged sets. These sofas could be configured in two or three unit corner cubbies or enormous seven piece arrays made for large living rooms or home theaters. Regarding the opposite extreme, a few sectional sofas could include seating for twelve adults or more, and be arranged in many shapes from predictable u-shaped groupings to circuitous arrays ideal for a hotel lobby. Sectional sofas are adequately versatile that they will work well in a whole spectrum of different sized rooms and complement many popular forms of decor. Also, consider getting a Faux Leather Sofa. Another nice addition will be a Contemporary Leather Sofa. Corner and central units could be added and switched for multiple orientations, and a couple of ottomans might be positioned as end pieces, chaise lounge extensions, or even coffee tables.
