Hunter said rising leather prices have made it next to impossible to hit key opening retail price points of $799 to $999 with top-grain leather or even leather/vinyl covers. "We have some bonded leather sofas that are among our best performers. The product, which consists of leather fragments and fibers glued, or bonded, onto a backing, is emerging as the key cover choice at the opening and even medium price points of many leather upholstery lines. Much of the shift, they add, is driven by higher prices for top-grain leather, but it's also due to recent significant improvements in the look and feel of bonded leather. As an alternative to both leather and fabric, bonded leather is selling "very well" at Nebraska Furniture Mart, according to upholstery buyer Cathy Urbanek. In fact, while firm numbers are difficult to come by, some sources maintain that bonded leather may now account for up to 50% of the leather segment.

I have a microfiber sofa a microfiber sectional, both from Ashley. The sofa is about four years old, and our stain guard is still holding up fine (or so says that glass of red wine I dropped on it a few months ago…). That’s what I plan to get next time a leather sofa a dark brown one. Do not, do not, I repeat do not get a microfiber sofa. I have a good quality light tan leather couch that I bought 35 years ago, it’s still in almost perfect condition, I’ve always had 2/3 small dogs. There’s a navy blue, medium grade leather couch in my TV room that’s 20 years old, the dogs always pile on it at night, it’s in fair condition. I would say get a leather one and just keep your eyes on the dogs. There’s a small mark on one of the cushions from a wet rawhide bone that dried and stuck to the leather. Rub your gloved hands along the fabric and the hair will separate from the fabric. I’d go for the leather. Their stuff isn’t well made so it won’t last for decades, but it’s cheap enough I can replace my stuff every few years.

I know that my microfiber chairs attract hair, but they have not been removed. I read more stories about claw marks and perforations in the leather, but then there is the issue of fur with microfiber (and perhaps scratch? .. I do not know. [...]
Deffinetly leather .. Microfiber partical collect dust and pet hair, cat / .. Hope this helps.
What would be the best? I do not like how the leather is cold in winter and sticky in summer. I worry microfiber color, what would you choose?
If neither, then what?
I would definitley suggest going to a local furniture store and check the different selections. I like the furniture microfiber, it is surprisingly robust and is expected to be practically stain.
